# Why does Taxomate split my Amazon settlements into different invoices?

Why Taxomate splits an Amazon settlement into separate invoices when it spans months, and which setting controls it.

Taxomate can split an Amazon settlement into 2 different invoices to match the sales and the related fees to their own months.

Amazon settlements are normally paid every 1-2 weeks (15 days in most cases). This period sometimes crosses the calendar month boundary.

**Quick example**

Let's say an Amazon settlement is from January 22nd to February 5th. The payment will probably appear in your bank account around February 7th. Does this settlement belong in January or February?

Posting sales and fees in the month in which you received your Amazon bank payment is not ideal for reporting. See [Accrual vs. Cash Basis Accounting](https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/09/accrual-accounting.asp) for more information.

👉 **Taxomate gives you the option to split the settlement and send two different invoices, so the sales and fees are placed in the month they actually took place. This allows more accurate accounting and bookkeeping and helps you forecast your growth.** If you do not want to use this setting, you can change it in **Settings > Invoice**: under **Currency and months**, turn **Split settlements across months** off.

Taxomate sends both invoices together. See [Send Amazon split settlements separately](https://docs.taxomate.com/en/articles/11975478-send-amazon-split-settlements-separately.md) (being rewritten) for what happens when you send a split settlement.
