# BETA: Tracking SKU Profitability in QuickBooks

How to track SKU profitability in QuickBooks by creating a class for each SKU and running profit and loss reports by class (beta).

⚠️ **\_Note:\_** \_Due to QuickBooks Online's limitations on classes, tracking SKU profitability in QuickBooks requires either the Plus Plan with tracking 40 products or less or the Advanced Plan.\_

First, set up your inventory sync for [Amazon](https://docs.taxomate.com/en/articles/9331343-beta-quickbooks-inventory-sync-for-amazon.md) or [eBay, Shopify, Etsy, and Walmart](https://docs.taxomate.com/en/articles/7017506-beta-quickbooks-inventory-sync-for-ebay-shopify-etsy-and-walmart.md).

To track profitability by SKU, you need to set a class for each SKU you want to track in QuickBooks. You can do this automatically: go to **Settings > Inventory**, make sure **Mode** is **Sync QuickBooks inventory**, and turn on **Automatically create item classes** (under **QuickBooks inventory**). If you turn it off, you map classes yourself.

**\_Note\_**: The system may take a few hours to create the classes for each SKU.

You can also go to **Settings > SKU mappings** and create or map each SKU with a QuickBooks class. In the **QuickBooks class** column, choose a class, or select **Create class in QuickBooks**.

Once you set up all your QuickBooks classes and have sent your sales invoices, you can run the reports by class. Here is an example profit and loss report for a single SKU.
