Step 4 (Optional): Account & VAT Mapping for UK/EU VAT

Step 4 (formerly Step 3), optional: how to set VAT registrations, VAT rates and product VAT groups in Quick Setup for UK and EU marketplaces.

These steps show in Quick Setup when your account has UK or EU marketplaces.

Step 1. Confirm VAT registration

In Confirm VAT Registration Status, select the countries where your business is VAT registered. They are in two groups: United Kingdom VAT registration and European Union VAT registrations. For Amazon, this should match the countries you entered as VAT registered in Amazon Seller Central.

If you select I do not wish to use Taxomate's VAT configuration setup., all VAT collected by your sales channel will be grouped into a single account, and all remitted VAT will be grouped into another account.

Select Review VAT registration, read the review, and confirm.

Step 2. Confirm VAT rates (UK only)

If you are UK registered, the next step is Confirm VAT Rates. The rates are in two lists: Sales, and Fees and other transaction types. Each row shows the tax code saved at the last setup check. Taxomate fills in its recommended tax code where it finds a matching code in your accounting software. Select the tax code of your accounting software for each row. This screen may look slightly different for each sales channel.

Please make sure the codes are correct for your business. With QuickBooks, use a Sales rate for invoices and credit memos. Purchase rates are for journal entries. Then select Review VAT rates, read the review, and select Save VAT rates.

Step 3. Product VAT groups

In Product VAT Groups, choose one:

  • I only sell products that are Standard Rated for UK VAT. Select Review product VAT groups to continue.

  • I sell some products that are Zero Rated or Reduced Rated for UK VAT. Select the tax codes for each group you use, then select Review product VAT groups.

Read the review and select Save product VAT groups.

_Note_: After Quick Setup, you can add products to these groups from Product groups (in the sidebar, under Accounts and taxes). Click here for more information.
